Sampies Hoogte (10km) Hike

Sampies Hoogte is a beautiful circular hike at the foot of the Outeniqua mountain range. The beacon is a well-known by both bikers and runners of the area and since 1982 it became custom that everyone who come pass, would place a rock at the same spot! The route takes us along a foot path through beautiful foresty areas and a lily dam.

This is an Easy hike rated 3/10 with uneven terrain and 180m elevation and you have to be able to cover the distance and moderate elevation. This is a 3,5 hour outing.

• Suitable lightweight hydration-/backpack/hip pouch
• Hydration/ bottled water
• Sunscreen
• Hat/ headgear
• Suitable non-slip shoes (Off road shoes. Normal sneakers/road running shoes are NOT suitable)
• Snacks
• Lightweight/ windproof jacket
• Your own emergency items, such as bandage, small petroleum jelly, blister plasters, etc.
•  Optional items: Fingerless gloves, hiking poles, beanie, buffs, sunglasses.
