Join us for a unique after-hours hiking experience at Muratie Wine Farm, where the beauty of the Winelands meets the magic of a lunar eclipse.
Event Overview
Take a scenic 2km hike along a steep vineyard road to a stunning lookout point atop Muratie. Arrive any time from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Dirtopia Trail Centre, then enjoy panoramic views of Table Mountain and the Winelands as the sun sets (18:30). The full moon will rise over Simonsberg around 19:00, followed by the lunar eclipse at approximately 20:15.
What to Expect
- Exclusive hiking route with breathtaking views
- Muratie wines available by glass or bottle (MCC, Dry Rosé, Sauvignon Blanc, Melck’s Dry Red)
- Astronomer Carol Botha will have a telescope set up for star and eclipse viewing
- Snacks and cool drinks on sale at the Trail Centre
- Opportunity to picnic at the lookout with your own food and blanket
What to Bring
- Backpack with picnic and blanket
- Warm clothing (jacket, beanie, scarf) for after dark
- Torch or headlamp
- Sturdy walking or hiking shoes
